Adamas Thanatos
He Who Remains Unbroken
Adamas Thanatos
Guardian of Niflheim
Lord of Cthon
Concept: End
Embodiment: Death
Weapon: Scythe
Adamas Thanatos, whose name means "Unconquerable Death," is a pecular Eternal. Ansemund sensed this presence immediately upon being born and believed it to be coming from Ouranos. It was only after having created Exousia Nyx and after she painted life in darkness did he understand the concept of the oldest law. All things must come to an end and from the soul of the first dying star (and the first thing to ever die), Paian ("the healing" or "deliverer from sorrow"), Exousia Nyx cradled Adamas Thanatos and Moirai Ananke, presenting them to Ansemund, who turned them into the Eternal of Death and the Eternal of Fate. Adamas Thanatos is the most feared of all entities, even to the Eternals, and his birth alongside Moirai Ananke can only mean that all must die. It is said by Moirai Ananke that when all things come to an end and Yggdrasil falls back into Ginnungagap, only her brother will remain past the end of time. To this end, patient Adamas Thanatos serves as the reaper of souls and is the strongest of the Eternals, alongside his sister Moirai Ananke; because no one can escape the fate of death.
Unlike other Gjallarhorns, there is no summoning chant for Adamas Thanatos. There is no hymn of praise, nor sacrifice, nor gift. He does not need such frivolous availment.
Summoning the Gjallarhorn of Adamas Thanatos has little to no immediate effect upon the terrain. The theta symbol, θ, burns along the back of your hand with a pale white glow. An unsettling silence befalls the battlefield as everything appears to move relatively slowly. Cracks snap around your arm, spilling a gloom of darkness, bloody gashes ripping across your skin. You bring your bloody hand over the theta symbol of your other, cracked hand, spreading your blood along the air and forging the crescent scythe of Adamas Thanatos.
The weapon of Adamas Thanatos takes the shape of a great scythe with a crescent sickle, a long chain extended out from the lower pummel. The sickle itself bears a large theta glowing along its pale visage. A ghastly presence emanates from the scythe, almost lulling even you to a slumber. Be grateful for the pain of those cuts, that is why they are there. This presence of sleep has an area of effect similar to the Planes of Existence, where anything near the theta begins to whither calmly. Death itself ends in calm.
